Community Service Program Chairs

Advocates for Children
Chair: Darlene Wharton. This committee is designed to encourage all Woman’s, Junior Woman’s, Juniorette, and International Affiliate Clubs to make a difference in the life of a child by being an advocate.
Affiliate Organizations
Chair: Jennifer Nickel. This committee is established to raise awareness and provide information about GFWC's affiliate organizations.
Amenities
Chair: Penny Ramirez. Coordinates meeting details, plans menus, confirms room set-up. Alerts the President to guests and visiting dignitaries.
Arts and Culture
Chair: Laureen Pedroza. The study of art and culture enriches us. Art education improves problem-solving and critical thinking skills, builds focus and perseverance, and nurtures creativity, confidence, and collaboration.
Civic Engagement & Outreach
Chair: Bev Webb. The four objectives of this effort are: citizenship; crime prevention, safety, and disaster preparedness; the needy, hungry, and homeless; and our military personnel and veterans.
Communications & Public Relations
Chair: Sylvia Baran. Using all platforms, this chair communicates activities, accomplishments, projects, public policy initiatives, and community improvement endeavors.
Community Impact Program
Chair: Carol Stern. This is a GFWC award offering clubs a financial incentive to impact a specific goal or concern in their community. The award offers clubs flexibility in deciding how to approach and implement the goal.
Convention
Co-Chairs: Heidi Dodd and Kimberly Ryan. This committee plans and oversees the De Anza District Conventions.
Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Prevention Programs
Chair: Barbara Fairbairn. The goal of this signature GFWC committee is to increase awareness of and help prevent the widespread occurrence of domestic abuse and violence against women.
Education & Libraries
Chair: Allison Eccelston. We promote education to help others while we also continue to learn. Projects are designed to foster schools, promote literacy, libraries, and the love of a good book.
Environment Projects
Chair: Margaret Meyncke. We are encouraged to become stewards of the earth by working to preserve the world’s resources, protect wildlife and domesticated animals, live sustainably, and beautify our communities and enjoy nature.
Epsilon Sigma Omicron (ESO)
Chair: Margaret Coleman. ESO is an honorary educational society open to GFWC club members. It began as an education program in 1928 to assist clubwomen to read and study systematically.
Fundraising and Development
Chair: Paula Munoz. How much money did your club raise to fund your projects? What are some good ideas about how to raise funds? That's what this committee is all about.
Health and Wellness
Chair: Marcia Daniels. This Committee explores the various opportunities for awareness and advancement of each of these vital areas: nutrition, disease prevention, and physical and emotional care.
Leadership Projects
Chair: Jan Emde. This program is intended to identify GFWC members at the grassroots level who have the potential and the desire to assume leadership positions in GFWC beyond their club.
Legislation and Public Policy
Chair: Pat Miller. This committee's goal is to increase awareness of new and pending legislation and public policy and to promote those policies that improve our communities.
Membership
Chair: Carol Conway. This committee's goal is to recognize and encourage gains in membership with our district clubs.
Newsletter
Chair: Donna Allosada. This committee is to increase interest and awareness of district women's clubs activities by publishing a monthly newsletter.
Registration, Reservations & Credentials
Chair: Claire Whitney. This committee manages event registrations and credentials for De Anza District conferences and conventions.
Resolutions
Chair: Mary Witten. This committee assists clubs and district members in bringing forth resolutions that to voice members' issue perspectives.
Chair: Peg Boortz. This committee seeks to highlight notable women in California, CFWC history and De Anza District history.
Writing Contest
Chair: Kay Masonbrink. This committee manages the California Federation of Women's Clubs Writing Contest Program.
